KBS2’s upcoming Kdrama, Pump Up the Healthy Love goes beyond the usual romantic comedy by uniquely exploring the impact of physical health on emotional well-being.
The series which is set to premiere on April 30, 2025, at 9:50 p.m. KST, highlights how fitness can become a powerful tool for healing, growth, and self-love. While romance plays a central role, the story also delves into themes of self-acceptance, and the importance of community.

Plot Details
At the center of the story is Do Hyun Joong, played by Lee Jun Young, a man whose life has revolved around fitness. From a young age, he defied the odds to become a world-class bodybuilder, eventually winning the prestigious Mr. David bodybuilding competition. However, after stepping away from the limelight, he returns as the owner of a struggling neighborhood gym.
Balancing the demands of running a fitness center with the personal struggles that come with it, Hyun Joong must navigate the ups and downs of business, training clients.
Lee Mi Ran, portrayed by Jung Eun Ji, on the other hand, is a travel agency manager who joins Hyun Joong’s gym, to distract herself from a painful breakup, completely unaware of how this decision will change her life.
Unlike most fitness enthusiasts, Mi Ran has never been one to prioritize exercise, making her journey all the more challenging. Under Hyun Joong’s guidance, she begins an intense training program that pushes her both physically and emotionally. What starts as a way to move on from heartbreak soon becomes a path to self-discovery, leading her to realize her own strength and resilience.
The drama also introduces other group of gym-goers, each adding depth and humor to the story.
Rosa, played by Lee Mi Do, is a veteran gym staff member who keeps a sharp eye on Hyun Joong, treating him as an intruder in what she sees as her domain. Meanwhile, Alex, played by Lee Seung Woo, is the gym’s resident “Baby-faced Muscle Man” with an unexpectedly sculpted physique, who remains fiercely loyal to Hyun Joong.
Im Sung Im, played by Park Sung Yeon, leads a trio of gym members known for their unbreakable sisterhood and strong personalities.
